Vanessa Hudgens: There's So Much CGI, It's Ridiculous

Vanessa Hudgens just can’t get the idea of Sucker Punch in 3D out of her head.

The 21-year-old actress caught up with MTV at Neutrogena’s Wave for Change with GlobalGiving over the weekend and opened up on why she’s so excited about it.

Vanessa shared, “There’s so much CGI in it, it’s ridiculous. It’s already really bad***, but having it in 3-D … having my tomahawk fly towards your face, [it would be] just too cool, you know? Shooting a .50-cal [machine gun], there’s nothing like it. I think all of us girls loved it so much. We’re all strong individuals, and when you give us a gun … you kind of unleash something.”

And what about getting to go to Comic-Con this weekend? “I’m going for the first time, and I’m so excited! I want to go dress up in a mask or paint my face so I can walk around in the crowd,” Vanessa gushed. “I’m really excited [for fans to see the clip]. There’s this beast that’s been unleashed with all of this. … I’m a lot tougher, stronger, bad*** — I don’t want to sound cocky, but it’s cool.”

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are finally opening up about the disappointment of their new flick’s release dates.

Since the announcement of the new release date for Beastly, fans weren’t the only ones who were let down.

Zac, 22, shared with MTV, “It was disappointing. It was hard. I actually had to break the news to her. I was like, ‘I think we are moving on to your date.’ … She took it really well, but it’s hard when that kind of stuff happens. We don’t, as actors, have any control over it, so we’ll see. I mean, hopefully it will work out for the best. Beastly is a great movie, and when it does come out, people are absolutely going to love it.”

Vanessa, 21, added, “I just didn’t feel right about us having movies coming out on the same day. It’s just not right. We’re actually going to be doing some re-shoots and changing it up a bit, so hopefully we’ll make it that much better.”

She’s been pretty limited in her scope of movie roles, but Vanessa Hudgens is definitely branching out in her new film “Sucker Punch.”

The “High School Musical” babe told press she really enjoyed playing a hooker in the flick, as it gave her a chance for some new experiences. “Honestly, it’s a combination of a lot of things… it’s really fun and it’s a fantasy and you’re going to have to see to understand.”

“We did martial arts. We trained with the Navy SEALs. We got to shoot a lot of guns. It was very exhilarating! I was bawling my eyes out because they push you so hard. But it’s amazing what you find from it. When you go so far you find a certain Zen within that and you know you can do anything. It’s very empowering.”

The 21-year-old actress dished to MTV on the type of girl her character, Lindy is supposed to be, saying, ” I’m kind of just the girl that doesn’t fit in. She’s marching to the beat of her own drum. She’s very artsy. She used to take care of herself, [but] because of the situation that she’s in … her dad is actually a drug addict, so she has to take care of him and go through all of that crap.”

Vanessa got really into Lindy too: “I made a point to not look put-together. On the first day of shooting, I would not stop fidgeting with my hair. I was trying to make it look messier and messier and messier and messier! Finally, the producers were like, ‘You need to calm down on messing your hair up, because it’s getting a little too crazy.’”

Vanessa Hudgens will playing “Mimi” in an all-star version of “Rent” in August.

The musical will take place at the Hollywood Bowl and marks the directorial debut of Vanessa’s Beastly co-star, Neil Patrick Harris.

Vanessa shared with MTV News, “I’m so excited. I haven’t done theater in years upon years, and that is my house.” And she revealed how she got the gig: “He texted me, saying, ‘Do you like “Rent”?’ And I was thinking he was going to ask me to see it with him, so I’m like, ‘Yeah, I love “Rent”!’ ”

Her gal pal, Ashley Tisdale is super excited for her: “It’s really fun because me and my girlfriend Ashley Tisdale used to always sing ‘Out Tonight,’ and now I actually get to do it onstage! Ashley was so excited. We were so obsessed with all the songs, and we would just sing them in the car over and over again. So she’s really happy for me.”

One of the hottest young actresses in Hollywood, Vanessa Hudgens is rumored to possibly play the role of “Spider-Woman”.

The former Disney star, whose boyfriend Zac Efron revealed he’d love to play the Marvel vixen, is supposedly among the top picks to star in the upcoming comic-book film.

“The idea is for this to be a fun, comedic movie and Vanessa is perfect for the title role,” a source said. “Spider-Woman is strong and sexy but in this case hilarious.” And will Vanessa take the role? “Vanessa is apparently very interested in the idea,” added the insider.

Vanessa Hudgens stares back at Alex Pettyfer as they sit in a rose garden in the new official trailer for their upcoming flick, Beastly.

The 21-year-old actress offered tips to MTV on just how to go see her new movie: “The perfect way to go see Beastly, if you’re my age or a teenager, I’d say bring your boyfriend or bring your girlfriends. Go have dinner somewhere, or maybe invite your friends over. Get pizza and drinks and then go to the movie theater. You should go with your friends, because it will make it that much more fun. And it’s a really enjoyable movie.”

In the upcoming movie, Kyle Kingson (Pettyfer) is a popular kid with a mean streak who ditches a date. His date, Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), turns out to be a witch who curses him to become everything he hates. The grotesque transformation leaves him with the seemingly impossible task of finding true love (Hudgens) to break the ugly spell.

Vanessa Hudgens Takes Up Residence in Rent

Vanessa Hudgens is looking to bowl audiences over this summer. While no stranger to song-and-dance routines, the High School Musical alumna is digging deeper by taking on the gritty part of Mimi, a dancer with HIV, in an upcoming staging of the Tony Award-winning Rent.

The production is scheduled to run Aug. 6, 7 and 8 at the Hollywood Bowl and will be directed by Neil Patrick Harris, who has nothing but praise for Zac Efron's better half.

"She came in for a work session, and I must say, Vanessa really impressed," Harris says in a statement. "She looks amazing, has great vocal chops and seems really committed to honoring the somewhat iconic role of Mimi. I look forward to audiences seeing a dark, edgy and very different side of Vanessa Hudgens this August."

But if you think you can predict what the new version starring Vanessa Hudgens will be like — well, you haven't paid attention to the story's central message: You need to look deeper to truly understand something.

"Uh, no!" was the response of fast-rising British heartthrob Alex Pettyfer when we interviewed him and Hudgens recently and asked if July 30's "Beastly" is anything like Disney's take on the classic tale.

"It's a modern take on 'Beauty and The Beast,' except it's darker and way sexier," explained Hudgens, insisting it's also a long way from the "High School Musical" films that made her famous. "It's a great love story, and I think everyone's going to fall in love with it."

Directed by "Phoebe in Wonderland" filmmaker Daniel Barnz, the upcoming film casts Hudgens as a teen who is the only hope for Kyle Kingston — a shallow student transformed into a monster who can regain his original appearance if he can get her character to truly love him. "I can give you three things [that make our version different]," Pettyfer explained. "Scars, tattoos and piercings."

"It's intense," Hudgens explained, saying the film strives for realism whenever possible. "One thing Daniel said to me in the very beginning was the beast will have no fur when we're on set. I think that would make it a little bit less believable." The movie co-stars Neil Patrick Harris as a blind man, and features an unexpected turn from a superstar cast as the evil woman who puts Pettyfer in his hairy predicament: Mary-Kate Olsen?

"Yes, she's this voodoo witch trapped in some goth girl, high school girl [body]," Pettyfer explained. "Something like that. I make her believe that I like her, and then show her up in front of everyone. And then, she turns me into the beast."

Joining in with the massive outpouring of celebrity support to the earthquake-torn nation of Haiti, Vanessa Hudgens is stepping up to help out. The “High School Musical” hottie has signed on to appear at a Help Haiti concert hosted by George Lopez on Thursday, February 4th.

Also on the bill is Vanessa’s super-hunky boyfriend Zac Efron as well as Ray Romano, Margaret Cho, and Ozzy Osbourne.

Lopez announced on his website, “The people of Haiti need our help. On Thursday, February 4th, I am throwing a benefit concert called “Help Haiti” at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE here in Los Angeles.
